Urge the White House and Senate to Oppose the Global Gag Rule and Support International Family Planning
The House of Representatives is looking to reinstate the Global Gag Rule (GGR) as a matter of law in the fiscal year 2011 budget (H.R.1). The GGR, which prohibits overseas organizations that receive U.S. aid from having anything to do with abortion, would have terrible consequences for women and their families. When previously instituted, the policy forced clinics to cut back on health services that have nothing to do with abortion, such as family planning, obstetric care, HIV testing, and malaria treatment.
It is now up to the White House and Senate to prevent this from happening. Ask President Obama and your senators to reject the proposed reinstatement of the GGR and to protect funding for international family planning and other programs that are vital to improving and saving women’s lives.
Using the form below, you can write to the President and to your senators.
